STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY

From its early days, Petunia school has emphasized both academic attainment and character development. The dedicated team of professional teachers encourage their pupils to seek honor as well as achievement. The school also believes that a well rounded education includes experience of extra and co-curricular activities.

COMPETENCY BASED CURRICULUM

We have adopted the Competency Based Curriculum where we have our learners focus on the mastery of valuable skills and knowledge and learn at their own pace. Every learner will be competent in the following areas at the end of the learning period:

We offer the following levels of learning at Petunia School:

  1. Playgroup: 2 - 3 years
  2. Pre-primary 1
  3. Pre-primary 2
  4. Grade 1 to Grade 6 CBC
  5. Class 6 to class 8

KENYA CERTIFICATE OF PRIMARY EDUCATION (KCPE)

Petunia school has been able to set a pace for itself in the academic field, int the few times it has done the National KCPE examinations.
The 2018 KCPE meanscore was 330. The highest score was 418.
The 2019 KCPE meanscore was 320. The highest score was 401.
The 2020 KCPE meanscore was 324. The highest score was 411.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

We have a computer lab where our students learn how to create, store, exchange and use information in its various forms, hence exposing them to mordern technology and mould them early enough.

KENYA PRIVATE SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION (KPSA)

The school is also a member of Kenya Private Schools Association, Kasarani and Embakasi clusters.

We at Petunia know too well that all work and no play make Jack a dull boy. We have numerous sporting activities in the school such as soccer, swimming and others. We ensure that all pupils participate for optimum exposure and performance.

Apart from academics, our pupils have other talents. During talent shows we are able to nurture and develop the skills portrayed by our pupils.

Educational trips are optional but essential. They make leaning interesting and break form class monotony.

KITCHEN & COOKERY CLUB

We ensure that our pupils and teachers get the best when it comes to meals. We ensure they have a balanced diet for healthy bodies and brain so that they can also perform well in academics.
We also have a cookery club where the pupils participate in kitchen activities, with supervision from our well qualified teachers to equip them with the necessary skills for productive citizenship.

WATER SUPPLY

At Petunia we believe that water is life. We possess a clean flow of water supply which is also boosted by our very large capacity tank. We also have water-points all around the school to ensure that our pupils and teachers are well sorted. Cleanliness is key.

SECURITY

We ensure that everyone is well protected and safe at Petunia. We have a strong parameter fence round the school. We also regulate and keep record of all entrances and exits into and out of the school to enforce this too.

MANAGEMENT

The school is managed and run by a board of directors, who are graduates with Bachelor of Education in ECPE (Early Childhood and Primary Education) in consultation with other competent members of staff. They are able to resolve issues and improve on delivery of content to the level of our pupils.

CLASSROOMS AND FACILITIES

The school is in a quiet and private environment. The location is conducive to learning. Our classrooms are big and spacious. Children in lower classes sit in groups to improve on their receptive and expressive skills among other vital skills.

TRANSPORT

Petunia provides a reliable transport system at a reasonable fee. Our drivers are competent with valid Driving licence and PSV. We pick pupils right from Donholm, Umoja Utawala, Ruai, Chokaa, Mihango, Kayole and Njiru to the school.

SPECIAL INVITATION

We invite all parents to bring their children for interviews anytime during April, August, November and December holidays. The interview fee is Ksh 1000.
